Ok i recently started reading batman fanfics but i have never read any of the comics and barely seen any movies so all i know is from tiktok (ew i know) and tumblr
Now, the problem is im so fucking confused who is who. I know batman is Bruce Wayne, think Dick grayson is nightwing and Jason tod is red hood. Tim also has a alias but no clue what it is nor his surname. And im fairly certain that damian is the new Robin
(Cause all of them were Robin at one point right?)

Watching S2 (still in progress, btw) of Bridgerton, I have sensed similarities between Anthony and Buck.
Daphne tells Anthony he need to pick the one who makes him feel, the one that challenges him, the one he loves.
He says "I know what I must do." Daphne is happy, sure that her brother is now making the right choice.
And then goes to propose to the sister Edwina instead of Kate.
Buck looked at the situation, tried to get Eddie’s attention even when Tommy wasn't there, he complained to Maddie about Eddie spending time with Tommy instead of him, and about Christopher liking Tommy too.
And when Maddie explains to him that it's wrong that he hurt Eddie to get his attention, because there are better ways, he goes 'I know what I must do'
And kisses Tommy, talking about not hearing the universe scream at you 😂

i need my space unless you're the right person then don't go anywhere. [end quote]
I didn't write that, it sounded interesting and logical, but I'm not so sure how it actually plays out in life given the laws of the Universe to veer toward chaos & disintegration.. much of life is about little snapshots of the ebb & flow of life going back and forth, repeating in an incessantly endless stream of the same sequence of events taking place with different characters at various locales. The distinction being the role time has on our vigor/understanding/contentment.
There was a survey on the theme we envision Christmas most embodies for us personally, I believe joy to the world was the highest at 34.8% or something like that, but I picked: "peace on earth" bc for me that is what was the promise GOD made by sending us the PRINCE of PEACE, WHO among men was a MAN of SORROW.
I feel so torn, like the character from Batman: Two-Face, as though this inner war between the old version of me, who chases after frivolity & laughter over deeper connections; and runs away from those who extend their hands, wearing their hearts on their sleeve.
If only life were more of a steady stream of people whom you met & were actually interested in practising for the big occasion when you met the one person you would take the plunge with.
wtf is this high stakes poker in Casino Royale?
I spoke with s/o the other month, whom I assume was a test to see how much I am willing to disclose, and the fact is I am even less open than I appear. The weird part was she posed as an offer to resume the frivolity & asked me something I felt was inappropriate, so I didn't even answer or make any effort to change the subject.
When I reflected back on it, I realized she somehow reminded me of all the people who tried to convince me I was a lesbian or bisexual & it made me feel exhausted and slightly miffed. Why is the world so sexualized: When will they just drop it? I mean 8.2 billion ppl, still not enough? The biological imperative is met, there is no danger that the world is not procreating enough.
Is this another phase in depression? Boredom but not realizing it.. I don't want to bring this into your life.

Batman's Best Villains: Two-Face | Serum Lake
My after school special, it is the best: Batman The Animated Series
The brighter the picture, the darker the negative.
[3:59] The unique difference is Harvey Dent's friendship with Bruce Wayne, they are pretty good [best] friends although they are keeping secrets from each other. Their friendship is so strong that even Two-Face considers Bruce his friend.
Now despite these physical changes & the formation of a new personality, Harvey Dent & Two-Face have a lot in common: They‘re both on the same mission to rid Gotham of organized crime, while Harvey wants to imprison the gangsters & remove them especially Rupert Thorne. Two-Face is more pragmatic, he knows that nature abhors a vacuum & that any gaps would be filled by other people, so Two-Face decides to remove the key players & fill the vacuum himself. His whole scheme with Gil Mason & Shadow of the Bat was to remove the crime Lords, clear out the opposition within the GCPD, namely Jim Gordon & replace him with his puppet Gill Mason─who‘s a real slime ball. He‘s handsome & driven, and presents himself as a man of the law on the surface. He's very reminiscent of Harvey Dent but in reality his two faces stooge is more than willing to betray his friends if it means he can get ahead. [6:02]
Jim Gordon: You're sick Gill, a lot sicker than him [Harvey Dent's Two Face], at least I can see his bad half!
Absolute scumbag, I'm also a fan of Second Chance in which Harvey Dent attempts to get his face surgically repaired─only to be kidnapped from the operating table by Two Face's henchman.
Turns out Two-Face doesn't want to be erased and won't let Harvey kill him. Now the thing I really like about this episode is the interactions between Batman and Two-Face, if you look closely Batman never strikes Two-Face. Batman dodges, Two-Face punches & grabs a hold of him to try to restrain him. But Bruce will not strike his friend; Two-Face doesn‘t feel the same way by any means, but that doesn‘t stop Batman from going out of his way to save him. When Batman swaps Two Face's coin, for a trick coin, that can only land on its edge. Two-Face drops everything in an attempt to get an answer from his coin, one thing leads to another, and Two-Face ends up following the coin off the edge of a building.
Similarly Batman stops everything he was doing, battling Two Face's henchmen to try to save his friend─they‘re both absolutely obsessed with their own causes.
Two Face to protect his coin & Batman‘s to protect his friend─to the point that they both endanger themselves, without a second thought.
This frankly manic incident aside, Two-Face brings out the absolute best in Batman─when Two Face almost falls to his death, Batman is right there to offer a helping hand. When Two-Face rejects Batman‘s help, instead of allowing him to fall to his death, Batman leaps over the edge of the building to save his friend.
Two of a Kind
Of all the Two-Face stories, my absolute favourite wasn‘t even seen in the show, but I 100% accept it as Canon. Bruce Timm‘s black & white short story: Two of a Kind originally printed in Batman black & white; although it was later made into a motion comic which can be watched for free on YouTube.
If you‘re not aware of it go watch it & then come back to this video, I‘ll wait, in my own personal head canon this takes place in the Batman the Animated Series continuity after Grace has left Harvey & after his failed surgery & second chance─but before the new Batman adventures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this story Harvey Dent successfully repairs his face & banishes Two-Face from his mind─he falls in love with his doctor Marilyn Crane & the two get engaged. That Harvey Dent, he sure likes to move quick, however, he soon learns that his fiancee has a mentally unstable twin sister named Madeleine
─who is determined to seduce him, just to spite her sister.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Harvey gives into temptation, but quickly realizes his error & puts an end to the affair! In retaliation Madeleine murders Marilyn, leaving an ominous note written in Marilyn‘s blood:
Now it‘s just the two of us
Tumblr media
This message has a double meaning because yes in Madeleine‘s mind, there‘s no reason for Harvey to end their relationship now.
But to Harvey, good old reliable Harvey, the man who wouldn‘t hurt a fly─it‘s a call to arms for his old friend Two-Face. This whole story is oozing Noir Vibes & not just because it‘s in black & white; Harvey Dent‘s narration runs throughout the entire story, and I adore the sad ending with Two-Face murdering Madeleine & cradling her in his arms.. thinking about everything he & Harvey have lost.
Before Batman turns up to console him, there‘s no struggling, no grand battle between Batman & his enemy─it‘s just two people, Two-Face mourning his lost lovers & Batman mourning his lost friend.
The sad thing is that Madeleine fully accepted Javier‘s Two-Face, she viewed him as being the real Harvey─without any of the pretense that we all put up that mask of civility, the politeness.
Tumblr media
But Two-Face couldn‘t forgive her for what she‘d done to Harvey, not only did she kill the love of his life, but she bought Two-Face back!
Conclusion: I‘m fascinated with the psychology of beta‘s Two-Face, he‘s not two people inhabiting one body, that can switch out at a moment‘s notice. Two-Face is Harvey Dent‘s response to trauma!
He‘s short-tempered
He‘s strong &
He‘s bound by chance
Something about him speaks to me & ultimately that‘s why he‘s my favorite Batman villain!
Characterization: Two-Face is a duality-obsessed criminal. Introduced in 1942 as a criminal mastermind obsessed with the number 2, Two-Face's crimes as well as his hideouts and henchmen surround the number; since the 1980s, Two-Face's duality obsession evolved into an obsession with the duality of man, with the character committing crimes based on his "misguided sense of right & wrong"
Two-Face views himself as both good and evil, and relies on flipping his double-headed coin, scarred on one side, in making important decisions and deciding whether his good or evil side will prevail.
Widely considered Batman's most tragic villain, Two-Face was established as a tragic figure in his debut: a former law-abiding district attorney turned criminal whose disfigurement resulted in him being shunned by society, which led to his turn to crime. In his early stories, Two-Face yearns to fix his face and bring back the love of his wife who he mistakenly thinks does not love him because of his disfigurement.
1990's "The Eye of the Beholder" (Batman Annual #14) reimagined Two-Face for the Modern Age as having psychological trauma from the childhood abuse he received from his father, and depicted him as being on the verge of a mental breakdown as a result of his repressed trauma and the pressure of fighting crime in Gotham, and driven to a point of desperation by Gotham's corruption.
"Eye of the Beholder" also established Two-Face as a second personality state of Harvey Dent's dissociative identity disorder which resulted from his trauma; a psychiatrist in the story describes his condition as having "two personalities," with Dent having managed to "sublimate the second, anti-social one since he was a teenager."
Skills & Abilities: Two-Face has no superpowers, instead relying on his proficiency in marksmanship and martial arts, which was further improved after being trained by Deathstroke and Batman. As a former lawyer, the character uses his expertise in criminal law, criminology, and police procedures to devise his crimes.
Before his transformation into Two-Face, Harvey Dent had a successful career as Gotham's district attorney, driven to bring an end to the city's epidemic of organized crime. Following his disfigurement, he becomes obsessed with the number two & the concept of duality. Thus, Two-Face stages crimes centered around the number two—such as robbing buildings with 2 in the address or staging events taking place at 10:22 p.m. (2222 in military time).
He was an accomplished lawyer highly skilled in almost all matters relating to criminal law, and an extensive knowledge of the criminal world. He is also a charismatic leader and speaker. Two-Face is a genius in criminal planning & has an exceptional character, which allows him, among other things, to stoically endure pain and recover from smudging injuries in a short time. Two-Face is a skilled marksman, and regularly uses a variety of firearms such as pistols, shotguns, grenade launchers, Tommy guns, knives and rocket launchers during his battles with Batman. He primarily wields dual pistols, and has become dangerously skilled with them.
Harvey Dent has kept himself in peak physical conditions, even before his transformation into Two-Face and had exercise equipment in his office when he was an assistant district attorney. The Batman: Face the Face story arc reveals that Batman, shortly before leaving Gotham for a year, trains Dent extensively in detective work and martial arts. To further improve his proficiency in the use of firearms, Dent hires the sharpshooting assassin Deathstroke to train him.
Relationships: This section details the character's most notable relationships across various interpretations of the Batman mythos:
Gilda Dent in some iterations, is Harvey Dent's wife. Her character debuted in Detective Comics #66, alongside Harvey, and became a recurring character in Batman stories involving Two-Face.
Batman's alter-ego Bruce Wayne is the best friend of Harvey Dent, while before becoming Two-Face, Harvey was also one of Batman's earliest allies, predating Batman's partnership with James Gordon. Their friendship goes back to Harvey's first appearance in Detective Comics, in which Batman refers to him as his friend and emotionally asks him to give up his life of crime. Because of this relationship, Two-Face is one of Batman's most personal enemies. In the comics, it is shown that Bruce considers Harvey's downfall a personal failure, and has never given up in rehabilitating him.
It is established canonically that Harvey knows Bruce Wayne is Batman. The character's knowledge of Batman's secret identity was introduced in the story The Big Burn from Peter Tomasi's 2011 Batman and Robin ongoing series, and is shown in subsequent comics such as Scott Snyder's All-Star Batman, in which they were established as childhood best friends. In Detective Comics #1021, Harvey admits to Batman that he has been keeping his identity secret from his Two-Face personality in order to protect him.
Renee Montoya and Harvey Dent have a complicated relationship, introduced by writer Greg Rucka in the sixteenth issue of 1999's Batman Chronicles, in which Renee reaches out to Two-Face's Dent persona and is kind to him. Their relationship continues with the "No Man's Land" crossover storyline; in one issue, Harvey sends Renee flowers for her birthday and Renee visits him in Arkham Asylum. Harvey eventually develops romantic feelings towards Renee, which Renee doesn't return. This one-sided love would turn into an unhealthy obsession with her, which would lead to her professional and personal ruin; in the five-part Gotham Central story arc Half a Life, Two-Face attempts to destroy Renee's life by framing her for murder, outing her as a lesbian, and orchestrating a prison escape to make her a fugitive, so she would have nothing to keep her from returning his love.
Years after the release of Half a Life, Rucka would reunite the two in Convergence: The Question in 2015, following his return to DC Comics after his departure from the company in 2010. In the story, Renee saves a remorseful Harvey from killing himself, and convinces him to be a good man.
Rucka has talked about the characters' relationship in an interview with Comic Book:Renee and Harvey have always had a very odd bond, as far as I've written them, going back to the very first Renee story I did for DC, "Two Down". It's never been just cop-and-criminal between them. There's a peculiar understanding between them; Renee, to me, has always been able to see the path of Harvey's madness in a way that even Batman has never negotiated. I'm not sure I'd ever call them friends, especially after what he's put her through, but Renee has always been sympathetic to him, at least, and that care, that guardianship, drives much of our story.
